Annoying “fat things”

Hi, there! I’m back!

After my first Slimming World looong day, I can say that I came to the end of it without losing my mind, or getting grumpy. I’ve also learned that I NEED to have an afternoon snack prepared, because today I was so hungry when I got home that I nearly “cracked”! =S

Not to worry. Everything went well. Yay! Well, it was only the first day. And I’ve had quite a few first days. I’m going to take it one day at a time.

Since we’re talking about “cracking”, I just wanted to write a bit about some little things…

You know what the feeling is; sometimes you even try to be nice to yourself: “nah… I’m not that bad. Just a little overweight, I’d say.” Some other days, you hate yourself so much that if you accidentally fell out of your 1st floor flat window and exploded like a water balloon, you’d be doing the world a big favour. Or worse: no one would even notice.. =/

Yeah, I know exactly what it feels like. And every morning I wake up with this thirst, this passion for life and the wish of getting rid of “half of me”. And by lunch time I will have been seduced by a “grab size” pack of cheese and onion chips. And a bar of chocolate for dessert.

I’ve been like this for a long time. Actually, since I was a teenager. I really don’t know why it all started. I used to be quite attractive, the curvy type, but just a couple of pounds above the “10 kilos less than the centimetres in your height”. For example, if you were 1.60, you “should” weigh 50Kg. I must admit that the situation has become much worse now that I’m in my mid-thirties. Those “a couple of pounds” have become a BMI of 36.2!!! Very alarming, isn’t it?

And it’s not only that. What annoys me so much is that I’m starting to notice that some things are getting more and more difficult for me to do. And I’m not talking about going up stairs (there are lifts for that). There are some things that can be REALLY annoying:

1) you know when your belly is so big and flaccid that your knickers keep slipping under it, so depending on what you’re wearing, it looks as if you’re a sack of potatoes tied in the middle?

2) add to that the fact that your shoulders don’t have a “proper place” for your bag strap (or bra strap), what means that the bag keeps sliding down your arms – or your bra strap.

3) it seems that nowadays tops are getting shorter, no matter what size you buy. if you buy them your “normal” size, they are short, if you buy them bigger, they look deformed! Ai, ai…

4) there you have it: imagine walking to work carrying your bag on one shoulder, a school folder on one hand and having to “juggle” with pulling your knickers/trousers up, pushing your top down, pulling bra and bag strap back in place… all that with holding your work stuff…. Gosh! How difficult can it be to walk? Heels? Ha! You gotta be joking!

5) Wearing leggings. You know what I’m talking about… when your thighs are so fat that whenever you buy leggings (well, ok, they’re not the most fashionable things in the world, but we have to admit they are brilliant fat girl’s stuff!), they usually last so little!  With fat thighs rubbing against one another, the leggings just literally open a hole in the middle…

6) Sex. Just tell me: besides having no self-confidence, it is just unbearable to think  our men will have that feeling of shagging a massive cushion! No more comments here.

Hard, eh? Well, I know I sometimes don’t take myself seriously, but I think it’s about time I did. That’s why I’ve started this blog; so I can feel motivated, so I can help people fell motivated, and so some other people can help me out too! =)

See you again soon!

Dani.
